A small carved red lacquer cinnabar box and cover

A circular box with dome-cover, the exterior decorated with deeply carved red lacquer which is depicting a shepherd seated beneath a pine tree watching over three goats; symbols of good fortune. The sides and base carved with peonies and scrolling tendrils, the interior and base decorated with apple green cloisonné enamel.

Condition: Excellent condition; but it does not close flush.
