An ivory netsuke of a sparrow

With signature Masanao, 18th century
Width: 1 7/8 in. (4.63 cm.)

Of the typical form, the rounded body with a small head and two large round eyes inlaid in dark horn, two short wings and an erect tail, the legs carved in low relief around the smaller hole of the himotoshi with a large hole behind, signed Masanao in an oval cartouche.

Condition: Nice patina and some age cracks.
