A boar's tooth netsuke

Unsigned, Iwami School, 18th/19th century
Length: 3 5/8 in. (9.24 cm.)

Of the usual form, the large boar's tooth is well patinated and simply carved with a large spider in high relief, the eyes of the arachnid inlaid in metal; the back of the tooth pierced with one hole for the himotoshi.
