A Shibayama lacquer manju netsuke

Signed Shibayama, 19th century
Diameter: 1 5/8 in. (4.28 cm.)

Of the usual form, forming two-halves, the exterior inlaid with ivory and mother-of-pearl on a gold ground, the front depicting a butterfly hovering over a branch of camelia, the interior in nashiji; signed on a rectangular tablet in mother-of-pearl "Shibayama".

Condition: Good, with some wear.
