A lacquered wood netsuke of Daruma

Signed Nagamachi Shuzan, 19th century
Length: 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm.)

A wood netsuke carved, partially lacquered and gilt, depicting Daruma completely wrapped in a red cloth decorated with a large peony head and foliage. Signed on the base in an oval cartouche "Shuzan".

Provenance: Betty Killam, 1983

Condition: Very good with some lacquer loss.
