A LARGE SILVER INLAID ARCHAIC BRONZE VESSEL, DOU
Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Warring States Period (475 - 221 BC)
The vessel is formed by a large bowl raised on a stem-foot and covered with a domed cover. The side of the bowl is flanked with two small loop handles decorated in rope-pattern and the lid has four small bird-shaped loops to serve as a food receptacle. The well patinated bronze is richly inlaid in gold with archaic motifs.
