AN OPAQUE PINK GLASS VASE WITH GREEN AND BLUE OVERLAYS
Qing dynasty, Qianlong mark and period (1736-1795)
Consisting of a splayed foot over a flat bottom with a pink and green body opening very decisively from the foot but ending almost flat at the top, the neck rising from a second bulb and flaring on top. Objects of this type are reputed to have been manufactured by the Imperial Workshops.
The mark 'Qianlong nian zhi' is incised in standard script along the periphery of the flat base. This type of mark is found on a fairly small and coherent group of objects and is discussed by Jana Volf in 'Treasures of Chinese Glass Work Shops' (Asiantiques, 1997) p. 52.
