This famous series was considered Hiroshige's 'grand farewell performance', and was started in 1856 and continued to his death in 1858. In this series, Hiroshige introduced a new dramatic style of composition with an enlarged foreground object framing the distant landscape. This fresh view no doubt contributed to the success of this series.
