A two-case inlaid ivory inro by Rantei

Signed Rantei, Edo Period - late 18th century
Height: 2in. (5.4cm.)

A small but very interesting ivory inro carved in katabori and inlaid with horn and coral to depict a coral diver pulling out of the sea a very large branch of coral. 'Rantei' incised on the base within an oval cartouche. Matching coral ojime.

Condition: Good, fine hairline crack to middle case.
