AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A MONKEY TRAINER

Signed Tomomasa, Edo to Meiji Period (19th century)

The ivory netsuke is realistically carved to depict a young boy trying to get the attention of a sarumawashi [monkey trainer] carrying a dressed monkey on his back and holding a drum in hand, signed Tomomasa on the back of the left leg.

2 1/4 in. (5.6 cm.) high

Condition: very good
