A FAMILLE JAUNE PORCELAIN VASE
Qing Dynasty, Kangxi Period (1662-1722)
A pear-shape body bottle vase with a high conical foot and a tall narrow neck flaring towards the mouth, decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze yellow enamel. The body is decorated with two infant dragons and two censers hanging from tasselled ribbons tied to a ruyi border and two arrow vases on tripod stands with a band of stiff leaves, scroll border and foliage with ruyi motifs on the neck.
H: 9 1/4 in. (23.5 cm.)
This shape is known in the literature, and an identical example can be found in the collection of the Topkapi Saray Museum, but without the yellow enamel, see Regina Krahl and John Ayers, 'Chinese Ceramics in the Topkaki Saray Museum, Istanbul, A Complete Catalog, part III: Qing Dynasty Porcelains' (Sotheby's 1986), cat. no. 2157, p. 1011.
Condition: good, with some small chips repaired to the mouth. The mustard color enamel has not adhered in all areas.
