AN EARLY BLUE AND WHITE IMARI PLATE, SHOKI IMARI
Fuku Mark, Edo Period (Middle of the 17th century)
The plate is of the typical flat form with a low unglazed foot, and decorated in various shades of deep blue with two sprays of peony.
Diam. 8 5/8 in. (22 cm.)
Condition: Excellent, with some fine glaze cracks. There is a small chip to the rim but it is glazed therefore it is original to the piece.
Provenance: Presented by Inakamaru Zempachi from Fukuoka (Japan) in 1966 (according to a label on the bottom of the plate)
