A FINE JADE CARVING OF A BIRD

Qing dynasty (18th - 19th century)

Of light green color with some russet inclusions, carved in the form of a magpie carrying in its beak a branch of Lingzhi, the Mushroom of Immortality. In Chinese mythology, the magpie is symbol of good omen, and in the present case, wishing a Long Life.

L. 7 1/2 in. (18.8 cm.)

Condition: small repair to the mouth
