A LARGE LAVENDER JADE DOUBLE-VASE
Qing dynasty (Late 19th century)
Carved from on large piece of jadeite of mottled white and lavender color with numerous emerald green inclusions. A larger vase is formed by a deep lotus flower with an adjacent smaller flower forming the small vase. The base and sides are carved with branches of reishi fungus. A small butterfly and two beetles rest on the leaf of the larger flower.
