A RARE AND EXCEPTIONAL TREMOLITE JADE ORNAMENT
Hongshan Culture (4500 - 2250 BC)
Of cylindrical form slightly conical, with the back wall slightly curved. The colors of various shades of brown to translucent yellow, with some white and black inclusion. Two holes are pierced on either side, drilled from the outside.
These ornaments were commonly found in Hongshan tombs, placed near the head. For further reading, see Jessica Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing Dynasty, p. 115-116.
This is particularly good example.
