CONICAL MOULDED BOWL WITH TURQUOISE GLAZE
Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279)
Starting from a small foot in circumference, this superb and rare bowl flares out to form a conical shape. This thinly potted bowl shows the elegance achieved by the Song potters.
The interior has a central flower surrounded by a dotted circle, while the periphery is decorated with two sprays of vegetation with one flower each; The whole is contained within a geometric border at a distance from the rim.
The outside of the bowl has been left plain and just covered by the striking turquoise glaze, while the foot has some grit adhering to it.
