Painted by Ye Xiaofeng 葉曉峰 (d. 1969); the bottle 1780–1850

Inside-painted banded chalcedony agate, of rounded square form with a broad cylindrical neck and recessed foot, with a small ribbon-like pattern incised on one side, the interior painted in red, green, white and black with goldfish and algae, and inscribed by Ye Xiaofeng, Beijing 北京 葉曉峰作.

Ye Xiaofeng was the son of the famous master Ye Zhongsan. This bottle is very similar in style to a bottle by his father published in Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, 5 volumes (Hong Kong: 1998), vol. 4 Inside Painted, part 1, cat. no. 527.
