Dark green glass overlay on a pink ground deeply carved with two warriors fighting beneath a pine tree on one side, the other side with two figures talking under a pine tree while another man hangs from the tree, the bottle of flattened baluster form with a narrow tapering neck and recessed foot.
The bottle is decorated with scenes from the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West 西游记. On one side, the Monkey King and an enemy (红孩儿) fight on a bridge beneath a pine tree. On the other side, the figure hanging is Xuanzang 玄奘, the Buddhist monk assigned to go to India to retrieve Buddhist scriptures from China, who has been captured. Beneath him are two of his disciples, Sha Wujing 沙悟净 and Zhu Bajie 猪八戒 (also known as Friar Sand and Pigsy), plotting to free him.
