A bronze scroll weight in the shape of a foo-lion
Kangxi period, 1662–1722
Length: 2 1/8 in (5.3 cm)
This foo-lion, used as a scroll weight, embodies all the characteristic fierceness found exclusively in the Kangxi period, with the face sharing similarities to dragons of that reign. The detail of the twisting torso is very compelling. The foo-lion extends one paw to hold the brocade ball from which streamers arise.
