A porcelain censer with string pattern
Kangxi period, 1662–1722
Height: 4 ½ in (11.4 cm)
Maximum diameter: 5 ¾ in (14.6 cm)
This censer, modeled after bronze originals, is unusual in the ascending diameter of the ridged, concave bands. The body rests on twisted legs that end on each side in the shape of a hoof. The censer is covered in a white-colored glaze, including the base, while the inside is glazed only at the top, revealing the naked paste.
