A jade group of mandarin ducks
Qing dynasty, 18th century
Of celadon green nephrite with russet inclusions, carved two mandarin ducks clasping in their beak a branch of blossoming lotus flowers, the base with large lotus leaves. Together with a fitted wood stand.
Such carvings would be offered to newly weds to wish them a harmonious marriage and grant them children.
Length: 4 1/2 in. (11.6 cm.)
Height: 2 in. (4.7 cm.) without stand
